Norwegian Cruise Lines has been making an effort to leave less of a carbon footprint, and one of those efforts has been switching to using gas-powered scrubbers to clean their ships. The swap is predicted to put out 1,500 fewer tons of Sulfur Oxide in the next few years.
Norwegian has been taking part in a new Eco-Smart Cruising program. Robin Lindsay, the Executive Vice President of Vessel Operations for Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings spoke out in a statement about the change
“Safeguarding the protection and preservation of the environment is a paramount core value at Norwegian Cruise Line. With three vessels successfully retrofitted with exhaust gas cleaning systems in 2016, Norwegian Cruise Line is proud to see this new technology in place to help maintain a clean environment for our guests to enjoy for generations to come.”
