Everyone knows that texting while driving is not a good idea but they continue to do it anyway. Now the police in New York are considered implementing a “textalyzer” to track whether someone was texting when they shouldn’t have been following an accident.
The device is similar to a breathalyzer but for checking usage on the phone as opposed to checking for alcohol in a human. New York’s Governor Andrew Cuomo has asked for a review of the concept.
“This review will examine the effectiveness of using this new emerging technology to crack down on this reckless behavior and thoroughly evaluate its implications to ensure we protect the safety and privacy of New Yorkers.”
Others think it passes the point of personal privacy. If it goes into effect it’s certainly something for locals and travelers to be aware of.
