New York is the next city to get a dog cafe. Boris and Horton is scheduled to open in the East Village this summer.
Unlike other dog cafes, this dog cafe is not offering an area for dog adoption. (Not regularly at least, occasionally they will offer this option.) In general, it’s just a cafe where dogs are totally welcome alongside the human patrons.
Co-owner Coppy Holzman explained the intention behind the concept.
“A lot of people like dogs [but] because of their circumstances can’t have one—so this is a dog-friendly place. It’s like basically going to someone’s nice living room with your dog, and it’s adjacent to a place where you can get all your food and coffee.”
The cafe will serve coffee, wine, beer, pastries, and sandwiches.
