In 2015 Starbucks launched a Starbucks Evenings Program that put beer and wine on the menu at certain locations. Now those 450 chosen locations across the the U.S. and Canada will have a trademarked alcoholic to choose from.
The Espresso Cloud™ IPA is the newest creation from Starbucks, which includes espresso, orange, and IPA. The IPA brew that makes it into the beer cocktail will vary by area depending on the local IPA selection.
The drink is the creation of barista Justin Burns-Beach who works at the research and development department for Starbucks. Initially he was just planning to have the espresso foam give the beer a hint of coffee flavor, but then ultimately liked it will the entire shot added in.
In their blog Starbucks promises that the drink has a “flavor punch, with complementary citrus notes in both the hoppy IPA and vanilla orange-infused espresso.”
The drink is available immediately at the locations offering the Starbucks Evenings Program menu. The chain has been testing out other twists to their menus lately including a weekend brunch option at some of their Portland and Seattle locations, as well as Italian frappucinos.
