Moscow has opened its first new park in 50 years. Zaryadye Park covers 32 acres in the Russian capital. On Saturday officials celebrated the opening of the park as well as the 870th anniversary of Moscow itself.
The park was designed with micro-climate areas that are intended to mimic other areas of the country. The park was built at the site of the Rossiya Hotel, which once was considered the largest hotel in the world.
The park will feature a variety of interesting things, one of which is an ice cave that will remain frozen all year round. It will also feature a floating bridge that will be lacking in support, an amphitheater, and a cinema.
During the building of the $223 million park, they discovered the remains of medieval streets, coins, and weapons.
