Microsoft employees now have the option of working in treehouses. The treehouses came about after a company survey determined that people like working outdoors and would do so if they had the option. Microsft teamed up with Pete Nelson, the host of the TV show Treehouse Masters to make that a reality.
Two of the three treehouses are already open at Microsoft’s Redmond campus. They offer both private work areas and also meeting rooms so that people can come and go as they please. Microsoft reports that their employees are feeling more rested and productive since they’ve had the option to take their work outdoors.
The treehouses were actually built to grow with the trees, so they’re expected to stick around in usable form for 20 years.
