Miami is set to open a park called the Underline, which will be a ten-mile park connecting South Miami, Coral Gables, and downtown. The park will be located underneath the elevated monorail. The project is being designed by the same person who designed New York’s High Line.
The park addition will not only make the area look more beautiful, but it will be a bike and walking path that will create a network of trails for people to travel on.
While quite long is distance, the width of the park will only range from 70 to 170 feet. There will be native plants cultivated in the area, as well as some work from the Miami-Dade County Art in Public Places group.
The project is expected to cost $120 million to complete and will be available for use by 2020.
