Massachusetts and Maine are two states that are considering a change when it comes to daylight savings time. As it is currently, the winter clock change can mean that the sun sets around 4 PM. People don’t really love that.
If the northeastern states joined the Atlantic time zone then they could get an extra hour of daylight in the evening.
Donna Bailey, one of Maine’s Democratic state representative spoke out about making the change.
“Why do we keep doing this to ourselves? The practical matter is this is something that has been in place and does not change easily.”
Some of the changes that would need to take place would include changing the start of school times, so there is a lot to consider. A new version of the bill proposing the change is expected to be out on November 1.
