The Marriott hotel chain is in the process of testing out some new concepts for their hotels, which they are actively doing inside of their new innovation lab, the M Beta at Charlotte Marriott City Center.
The Marriott Hotels Managing Director Mike Dearing explained the concept.
“The demographic of our guests is changing, and it’s very important to stay in dialogue with them. The Charlotte hotel is really our innovation lab. This is where we’re testing our best thinking and new concepts. We’re staying in constant dialogue with our guests to figure out what works and what they connect with best.”
This literally means that guests are given the option to vote thumbs up or down on new ideas such as changes to fitness options, food, meeting space, etc.
For example, at this location they’re taking down the walls between the kitchen and the dining room to see if guests enjoy that kind of exploration. Another thing they’re trying out is offering on demand workout options on location as well discounts at local fitness studios if people want to attend more specific classes. They are also offering aspects of meeting spaces that can be customized so that guests have the option to personalize their work experience a bit.
