The Latin American Hotel and Tourism Investment Conferences open in Cuba this week, and it seems as though hotels like Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, Choice, and Wyndham are sticking around for the growth.
Starwood was the first American hospitality company to open a hotel following the lifting of the travel restrictions, and many other are following in their footsteps.
The Hyatt senior vice president David Tarr released a statement.
“We are very interested in Cuba as a destination for our guests. Certainly we hope relations will be normalized. Our guests want to visit, which is why we are here.”
In 2016 Cuba saw four million visitors and an additional 18 percent increase in 2017. About 285,000 of those visitors were Americans.
