The Louvre Abu Dhabi is set to open in November after ten years of production. The museum is located on Saadiyat Island and will be made up of 55 different buildings.
Those buildings are surrounded by water and covered by a 590 feet dome with 8,000 metal stars in it. When the light moves across the dome, as do the light and shadows within. The effect is being referred to as “rain of light.”
The museum will contain art on loan from 13 different French museums. Some of those pieces will include Leonardo da Vinci’s “La Belle Ferronnière,” Vincent Van Gogh’s self-portrait, and Jacques-Louis David’s “Napoleon Crossing the Alps.”
Th Louvre Abu Dhabi will be reachable by boat or by foot. It will include a restaurant and a children’s museum with interactive activities.
