Instagram only launched their “story” feature one year ago, and to celebrate the anniversary they shared the single location that has most often been geotagged in those stories. The city with the most geotags in the world was Jakarta, Indonesia.
The second most popular location was São Paulo, Brazil, followed by New York, London, and Madrid. The geotag option has not been available as a feature for the entire time that stories have existed but rather was added later as an additional feature.
Stories differ from Instagram posts in the sense that they only exist for 24 hours at a time, similar to how Snapchat works. The temporary stories can be videos or photos, and many of them can be linked together to form one long story. Instagram also offers a live story option for live video footage that disappears as soon the user stops recording.
