The Los Angeles international airport got one of the approvals that they needed to move forward with their plans to build a terminal called 1.5. The Board of Airport Commissioners has given their plan the okay in regards to the environment and the aesthetic of the terminal.
Terminal 1.5 would connect terminal one and two as the name suggests, and would do so by the addition of a six-level building between the space. The concept is an attempt to make things easier on everyone by adding in more space for ticketing, security screening, and baggage claim.
Sean O. Burton, the President of the Board of Airport Commissioners President, spoke about the plans in a statement.
“By improving on existing passenger processing capabilities, and providing the additional space for the latest screening technology to meet federal security requirements, this new facility will help improve the guest experience and speed up lines. It will also make it easier for passengers making connections between Terminals 1 and 2.”
The concept still requires approval from the L.A. City Council.
