On Thursday the main power line was accidentally cut within the Paris Las Vegas resort, forcing the resort to undergo a massive evacuation.
The power line was cut around 10 AM, which shut off the power to all 2,900 rooms, as well as the entire casino, the restaurants, and the shops.
When the backup generator failed and their fire alarm system battery power ran low, the hotel had to do a full evacuation which meant safely getting out 3,000 people. There were reportedly close to 12 people in elevators at the time, which required a rescue to get them out.
Rich Broome, the spokesman for Caesars Entertainment Corp. spoke out about the state of the hotel.
“It’s pitch black in there. The building will stay evacuated until all power is restored and fire officials declare it safe. It’s frustrating for us. Much more frustrating for our guests.”
Guests who lost their hotel rooms in the process were directed to the Bally’s hotel to be rerouted. Come Friday morning the power was back on at the Paris and people were seen heading back to their original rooms.
