Lake Tahoe has been under a winter storm warning that has led to the temporary shutdown of its ski resorts. In the past week the area has seen up to 200 inches of snow and is expecting another foot coupled with high winds.
Some of the areas have dealt with power outages as well as challenges of getting around safely. Many schools have also been temporarily closed for the storm.
Each resort is following a slightly different protocol and will be reopening at different times. Most of them are keeping ski bunny hopefuls informed through the resort social media accounts.
Many long term residents of the Tahoe area have pointed out that this used to be normal, and that the recent years have been lighter on snow than they were used to.
