Last year it was reported that a contest was held to determine what sort of theme park should be held in Japan’s Beppu City. The winner of the contest had put together the concept for a hot tub theme park, or spamusement park, and the final result of whatever that is will be open this summer.
The video quickly passed the one million views it needed to win the contest, and the city has launched a crowdfunding campaign to come up with the $887,721 needed to make it a reality.
The city will be crowdfunding until July 29, which is also when they plan to open the place up.
Beppu’s Mayor Yasuhiro Nagano has released a statement about the project.
“The expectations are big for Yuenchi. We’re hoping to create something that will live up to those expectations, delivering fun and excitement.”
