There are actually a few different castles in Italy that have been converted into hotels, one of which is the 14th century Castello Bevilacqua.
Castello Bevilacqua is full of chandeliers and tasseled curtains and surrounded by manicured lawns. All the amenities are modern, but the rooms are furnished with antiques and classic paintings. The castle is located just a short drive from Vicenza and Verona.
Another option is the Castle Monastero, which is named so because in the 11th century the building was originally a monastery. After that it became a residence for a royal family, and these days it boasts a gourmet restaurant owned by Gordon Ramsay. There are 74 rooms available on the property, and it’s located right in the middle of some lush vineyards.
