The interest in Cambodia is increasing so much that some wonder whether it’s poised to become the next Thailand. In 2016 the country saw five million tourists. That’s still much lower than the 30 million that Thailand saw in the same time period, but it’s a number that has been steadily rising.
Many of the city markets and the nightlife opportunities have been developing in Cambodia, both of which are a huge draw for tourists.
One thing that still needs to happen to make the tourism growth in Cambodia rise, even more, is to make travel for accessible. One concept that’s being tossed around is to simplify border crossing in the region to make it a smoother process for tourists to get in.
