India is feeling like it might be a good idea to do some airport renaming. Apparently, the names of the airports are a bit challenging for foreigners to navigate.
The government is considering renaming airports such as the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport.
Sine the airports are named after historical figures they don’t want to away with the honors completely. Their thinking is that they could rename the airports to something a little more user-friendly and then rename some of the airport terminals with the historic references.
They would instead name the airports themselves with references to their geographic locations, much like a lot of the airports in the United States.
