The Kandawgyi Palace Hotel in Yangon, Myanmar caught flames on Thursday night and at least one person was killed. The luxury resort is popular with tourists and happens to be made mostly of teakwood.
Over 140 guests were evacuated from the hotel in the night thanks to the assitance of responsible hotel staff, but there were reports of multiple injuries. It took hours to put the fire out and it is unclear what started it to begin with.

Most of the hotel was built in 1990 but portions of it date back to 1930. The upper levels of floors that were made of teakwood were completely destroyed in the fire, while the lower levels were affected as well. The investigation is ongoing towards discovering why the fire broke out.
