Icelandair has introduced a plane that was inspired by the Vatnajökull glacier. The Boeing 757-200 was transformed into a piece of art for the airline’s 80th anniversary.
Four different airbrush artists took over the exterior design of the plane. Inside there are LED lights that offer the blue vibe of a glacier, as well as music that aims to help passengers feel like they’re actually in the glacier setting. Designing the plan took 24 days and 2,500 work hours to complete.
Icelandair CEO Birkir Hólm Guðnason released a statement about the project.
“Icelandair believes that traveling is one of life’s greatest pleasures and a trip on this plane will ensure customers experience time well traveled, as they sit back and experience Iceland’s most extreme elements from the comfort of their own seats.”
