The way that hotel security is handled could be changed following the recent Las Vegas shooting. Experts are looking into new ways to step up the security at places where it otherwise wasn’t a big issue.
Immediately following the shooting some hotels started using x-ray scans to check people’s bags on their way into the hotels. However this approach doesn’t work for hotels with small budgets, and it also can be a bit of a pain for the busier hotels.
Some suggest enacting new types of training to look for suspicious guest behavior. Bringing in many bags to a hotel room, for example, could be a tip-off that someone is bringing in items that don’t need to be there.
In the meantime, one thing that tends to deter crime is simply having more visible security around. That’s certainly one approach that wouldn’t hurt. In the future, the security details of the concerts will be working more closely with local police to watch out for any potential concerns.
