London’s Savoy hotel claims that their Royal Suite has the most comfortable beds in the world. They say that their four poster bed “transcends all levels of comfort currently available.”
The bed is made from hair fibers of the Khangai yak, an animal that lives in Mongolia. Staying in the hotel room costs around $1,845 per night. Purchasing it for the home costs about $93,000.
The yak fibers are said to both warmer than other wools, as well as softer than cashmere. Each yak only provides three ounces of fibers each year, which is why it’s considered rare and therefore valuable.
The beds are made by Tengri and Savoir Beds in a sustainable fashion. They work directly with herders in the Khangai region to ensure fair practices and that the herders get their fair share of the cut.
