The booking app Hopper is currently booking one million dollars in flights each day, and getting 90 percent of their revenue from push notifications.
Hopper functions by forecasting price changes in flights, and says that they can do so with a 95 percent accuracy up to a year ahead of time. Users can input into the app when they would like to be flying to a location and the app will predict the fluctuations in price changes and suggest when the best time to purchase a ticket would be to get the best deal.
When users book one of the flights off of the push notification, Hopper takes a $5 for the transaction.
Hopper just got a new $62 million in funding which will be used to take the capabilities of the app even further. One of their new features will allow people in different cities to book flights to the same destination at the same time, like if you were trying to book a trip with a friend who would be departing from somewhere else.
