Every sauna in Helsinki will be opening for a single day when the city celebrates “Sauna Day” on March 18, 2018. Finland has over two million saunas and many of them are not generally open to the public.
A statement was released about the event, which they are suggesting will be a fun social activity in addition to being a healthy one.
“This incredible force is not a medication, diet, or any sort of physical activity. It’s simply a Finnish way of life, and an activity that attracts thousands of tourists to Finland every year. That’s right; I’m talking about saunas.”
Finland’s eight Arctic saunas are said to “provide physical and spiritual cleansing along with an unforgettable vacation adventure.” But there are also sauna busses available, and even opportunities to hit the sauna in the home of some strangers. The event will be all things sauna. It’s suggested that beginners start slowly.
