Facebook has added a travel planner feature called City Guides. The app is currently in a limited release phase.
The app will keep track of where users are and then start making suggestions about things to do in those cities. Part of this information will be drawn from information about where the users Facebook friends have gone when they too have been in those cities.
The app will also have a “Places the Locals Go” feature, where information will be pulled on a larger scale from finding hot spots with good reviews. It will also offer an “Upcoming Events” section and a “Popular Attractions” one. Places can be bookmarked if people think that they might be returning later.
We’ll see if the app is later extended past this limited release.
