Since Donald Trump was elected president there have been a variety of protests, some of which have taken place outside of Trump hotels. Now the Federal Aviation Administration has issued new flight restrictions in Manhattan in an attempt to keep New York City’s Trump Tower.
The restrictions say that planes may not fly within four blocks of the tower, as well as that they must fly above 2,999 feet in the area at all times. Any police, emergency, or aircraft assisting the Secret Service is exempt from the rule however.
Initially the air restriction was enacted for election night, but now it has been extended until January 20 2017, which is when the Inauguration Day takes place and Trump moves into the White House.
The area is a popular one for recreational pilots to take in the sites so it will be a bit of a change for a couple months, but eventually the restrictions will be lifted. The TFR’s, or Temporary Flight Restriction spots came to be following 9/11, and they are enacted to keep traffic away from anything that someone might inclined to purposefully crash into.
