Dublin is planning to build a large hotel next to the airport that will actually link to the terminal. The 11 story property will have 402 rooms and be the fourth largest hotel in all of Dublin.
With the current demand on Dublin’s travel economy as reported by the Irish Tourist Industry Confederation, they will need to create 5,000 new hotel rooms by the year 2020.
The Dublin Airport’s Managing Director Vincent Harrison released a statement about the decision.
“There is significant demand for a new terminal-linked hotel at Dublin Airport and this development will benefit not just the airport but the city and region as a whole as Dublin needs more hotel beds. It will also provide employment for 250 people, as well as a further 150 construction jobs during the building programme, which is expected to last about 18 months.”
The hotel will also have a bar, restaurant, and fitness center. The Dublin Airport hotel will begin its build next October, with plans to have it open by the year 2019.
