The driver and victim have been identified in the Times Square accident that left one person dead and 19 other injured.
The driver of the car has been identified as 26-year-old Richard Rojas, 26. The Bronx native tested positive for PCP after the crash and told the police that “God made me do it.”
Richard has been arrested two other times for driving while intoxicated, and also has a history of psychological issues. He has been charged with one count of second-degree murder.
The woman who died in the incident was an 18-year-old named Alyssa Elsman who was visiting the city on a trip from Portage, Michigan. Her last social media post was at the Times Square’s famous Red Stairs. Alyssa’s sister was also injured in the crash.
