The Disney parks are generally open daily, but Disney World has officially closed down due Hurricane Irma. The closures will affect four of their parks as well as two water parks. The park released a statement about the closure, which is only the fifth time in history that they’ve been required to do so.
“Based on the latest forecasts for Hurricane Irma and keeping safety top of mind, Walt Disney World Resort will be closing early on Saturday, September 9 and will remain closed through Monday, September 11. Resort hotels will remain open. We hope to resume normal operations on Tuesday, September 12. We will provide regular updates to our guests on all operational changes. Please continue to check this page for updates.”
This closure is longer than it was for Hurricane Matthew, at which point they only shut down for less than two days. Those two days cost the park $40 million.
