The French cruise company Ponant is putting in underwater lounges in four of its ships called Le Bougainville, Le Dumont-d’Urville, Le LapĂ©rouse, and Le Champlain. The Blue Eye lounge will be the first underwater lounge that’s ever been offered on a ship.
Not only will the lounge have giant round windows to peer out of, but it will also project live images and marine sounds that will be picked up with equipment from a three-mile radius. The couches in the lounge will also be set up to vibrate along with the natural movement of the ocean, creating a distinctive multi-sensory experience.
All of the yachts are expected to roll out in 2018 and 2019 and will be used for expedition trips. The expedition version of cruising is expecting to continue growing in popularity over the coming years.
