Costa Rica just opened a new sloth sanctuary in Arenal Volcano National Park. At Nayara Springs and its sister Nayara Resort, Spa & Garden, guests can stay in luxury while also spotting plenty of sloths that call the properties home as well.
The property recently introduced 300 new Cecropia trees which the three toed sloths are very fond of. The trees are quite open so it’s very easy to spot the sloths lounging amongst the trees.
Twice a week Nayara’s Nature Guides take guests on complimentary walks to spot the sloths, which have increased from two to 15. The resort is also a good place to spot rare frogs, peccaries, and green iguanas.
