The Cayman Islands have been released from the list of destinations where the Zika virus is still a high risk. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention put the Cayman islands onto the list last year but there have been no new cases this year.
Since the risk has been low to nonexistent the Cayman Islands Public Health Department has been trying to get itself removed from the list. After a few months of trying it was confirmed that the area was removed from the list on July 28, 2017.
The Cayman islands are a British territory that encompasses three islands in the Caribbean Sea. It’s a popular tourist destination for its luxury beaches and opportunities for snorkeling and scuba diving.
