The Westin New York at Times Square has brought back a $1,000 bagel, which is even more amazing when you consider that it was brought back by “popular demand.”
The hotel first offered the pricy bagel in 2007. The reason for its expense is the Alba white truffle cream cheese, goji berry-infused Riesling jelly, and golden leaves. White truffle is the second most expensive food in the world, only second to caviar. It’s also extremely delicious, and hard to come by since it’s season is short and from a particular region in Italy.
If $1,000 still sounds like a bit much for a bagel, consider that all of the proceeds will be donated to New York’s Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen. In that case, sounds like a great deal. The bagels can be ordered via room service or enjoyed at the hotel restaurant. Either way, savoring the bagel is probably a good idea. As is snapping some Insta shots to prove that it happened.
The bagel must be ordered 24 hours in advance and will be available from November 1 through December 15.
