There is a waterfall in California that has frozen over completely that visitors can actually climb on it. The Sky Meadows waterfall is located in the Inyo National Forest. The freezing is nothing new, but each time it freezes it does so in a different shape thanks to the way the water molds.
With the proper ice climbing equipment, it’s possible to climb up the water from now until April when it is expected that it will start melting. The spot is located close to Mammoth Mountain which is popular for other snow sports like skiing and snowboarding.
The Mammoth Lakes Trail System has 300 miles of trails that can be explored during every season with lakes, forests, and meadows. The trails connect the Devils Postpile National Monument and the Pacific Crest Trail, most of which is easily accessible from the nearby town.
