California’s Highway 1 stretches between Los Angeles and San Francisco and offers some gorgeous sights along the way. Now areas of the highway have been shut down until 2018 for safety repairs.
Earlier in the year, a rock slide occurred in the San Luis and Monterey area, and now officials are saying that the repairs to the route are going to take longer than they thought.
The repairs are expected to cost around $40 million and require until summer of 2018 to be completed. However, it is still possible to visit the area since there are other nearby stretches of road that remain open. The businesses near the landslide area will also remain open through the construction.
