California is one of the states that passed the legalization of marijuana in the election this week, as well as Massachusetts and Nevada, joining Alaska, Colorado, Oregon, Washington, and Washington, D.C.
One of the things this means is that California could see a boost to tourism because of it, even being the popular state for tourism as it is.
The law goes into effect on Wednesday night that states residents and visitors to the state are allowed to possess up to an ounce of marijuana on their person at a time for recreational use. California residents are also now allowed to grow up to six Marijuana plants in their homes as long as they are hidden from public view.
It will take a couple years for recreational marijuana to be sold from dispensaries, since they have to go through a license approval process.
Colorado has seen an increase in tourism since they legalized marijuana, and have reported that 49 percent trips to the state have been motivated by the law change.
Last month the Gallop Poll reported that the nation’s support in legalizing marijuana is at 60 percent, which is the highest that it’s ever been.
