When the Baltic Huis opens in Brooklyn this December it will feature an underground coffee shop. Guests with a secret password will be able to get their hands on items such as rare Japanese whiskeys in addition to the standard coffee drinks.
The boutique hotel will have 33 rooms and is being designed with an industrial aesthetic in mind. Solar power will be used to light the hallways, and among the electronics available in the rooms will include a smartphone and an Alexa Smart Home device. The in-room comforts are minimal but warm, with wood bed frames and white linens.
The hotel will be located next to the Gowanus Canal and guests receive complimentary Citi-Bike passes to use throughout their stay. They will also have the use of maps to explore little known local sites such as cool graffiti. The coffee shop will also offer co-working space in addition to being open to guests.
