Pod hotels first popped up in Japan and have been gaining popularity around the world. Recently the news was shared that Mexico City has opened a pod hotel, and now New York is getting a new one as well. Pod Brooklyn is located in Williamsburg and is technically the first modular hotel in the city.
The modular hotel was originally built in Poland and then shipped over. Each of the 294 rooms is 100 feet and holds either one queen bed or a set of bunk beds. Most of them have large windows that look out onto greenery of some sort, and each pod has a private restroom. Rooms will cost $99 per night.
Other pod hotels in New York include Pod 39 in the Murray Hill neighborhood, Pod Times Square, and New York’s first pod hotel Pod 51. They’re all styled with a modern look and intend to provide just what you need out of a hotel without all the extras.
