Travel & Leisure has announced their yearly list of best places to travel, and the 2017 honorees are in. The list includes a bunch of gorgeous islands and popular European spots, but it also pointed out some U.S. stateside places that they think are often overlooked as travel destinations.
One, for example, is Philadelphia, which along with a growing number of young people moving in has seen an upswing in great hotels, museums, and high-brow bars.
“Philly is coming off a high-profile couple of years, between hosting Pope Francis and the DNC and being the first U.S. city inducted into the Organization of World Heritage Cities.”
Other North American spots on the list included Norfolk, Virginia, Cincinnati, Ohio; Nashville, Tennessee; and Tofino, British Columbia. They pointed out that “More than a quarter of these places are within reach for a long-weekend trip from the United States.”
Outside of the U.S. locations like Bermuda, Hawaii, Oslo, Helsinki, and Belfast were top contenders.
