After months of protest against the Trump International Hotel and Tower being built in Bali the hotel is moving forward with the building plans. But the locals have made it clear that they will “demolish” the hotel is anything is build taller than a palm tree since it would anger teh Gods.
Bagus Wiratmaja, the head of the district’s development and planning agency explained.
“If suddenly they build an unapproved tower, of course we will stop them and demolish it. There are special rules for the temple and the temple area.”
The hotel is next to the Tanah Lot temple, which is a Hindu temple from the 16th century that is considered one of the most important in all of Bali. Upon completion, the hotel will boast six stars and be “the largest and most integrated lifestyle resort destination in Bali.”
