Australia is opening up a hostel entirely made of sand. The Sand Hostel as its called was designed by film production designer Jon Dowding and sculpted by Dennis Massoud.
The Kurrawa beach hostel includes beds, showers, a common area, and all the other stuff that a normal hostel has to offer. It just happens to be on the sand, made from sand. The entire thing was created in less than two weeks and required 24 tons of sand to do so.
The hostel will be open until September 22 and costs only $6 per night. Including food and drink. While not everyone will be able to snag a reservation to stay the night, people are welcome to stop by to enjoy the bar and outdoor disco, or to take sand sculpting lessons from the hostel’s designer.
