Anguilla is hoping that they can boost their tourism with the help of Airbnb. The Anguilla Tourist Board announced that they will be partnering with the home rental company to promote the Caribbean destination.
Anguilla’s tourism industry brings in 41 percent of total employment on the island. There are already 300 Airbnb rental listings active and they do well. The partnership will include Airbnb promoting Anguilla’s culture and beaches.
Anguilla’s Chief Minister and Minister of Tourism Victor Banks said that the partnership “will have the effect of affording Anguillians of all walks of life an opportunity to be involved in the tourism accommodation sector. Airbnb represents a new trend in the delivery of tourism experiences to a wide range of international and regional travelers and creates a platform to promote Anguilla as a destination of choice for varied and new types of travel experiences.”
Airbnb is also planning to expand in China and recently purchased a Montreal-based luxury vacation rental service.
