Amtrak is running a promotion alongside Universal Pictures Home Entertainment to promote the December 6 release of the film The Secret Life of Pets. For Amtrak, that means that travelers can take advantage of a “Pets Ride Free” offer.
Any customer who books a train ride between December 6 and 11 for a trip that takes place between December 9 through March 31, 2017 will get a free pass on their pets. The promotion deal will be available in 40 different markets including New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Minneapolis, San Francisco, Dallas, and Seattle.
Small dogs and cats are always welcome on Amtrak but their current generally costs $25. To be eligible to ride the pets have to hang out in a small enclosed carrier that weighs in at 20 pounds or less.
The rail line has been offering that option for a year and so far 15,000 small pets have given it a go.
