According to research done by AAA, a lot of Americans are taking culinary-focused vacations or at least have plans to. As many as 22 million Americans have plans to take one in the next year.
The AAA managing director Bryan Shilling released a statement explaining the trend.
“There is no better way to learn about a destination and immerse yourself in the local culture than by experiencing its unique food and dining customs. When planning a culinary vacation, seek the advice of a trusted travel advisor, who can help customize a trip that matches the individual traveler’s dining preferences.”
The report also found that 75 percent of travelers feel that food is an important part of their travel experience. Eighty percent say that they have taken part in local food exploration such as dining with locals and touring wineries.
