According to a report from the International Air Transport Association, global air travel has reached a 12 year high. Air travel was up 7.9 percent in the first half the year, and 7.8 percent in June.
It’s suspected that the lower air fare prices have quite a lot to do with the surge in air travel demand. The IATA head Alexandre de Juniac warns that the trend could be limited, however.
“But as costs rise, this stimulus of lower fares is likely to fade. And uncertainties such as Brexit need to be watched carefully.”
The information gathered for this report came from screening 17 million different people. Most of the screening was done on travelers at the Los Angeles International Airport, John F. Kennedy International Airport and Chicago O’Hare International Airport.
