An Air France plane was struck by lightning while mid-air on Friday. The pilot declared a declared a mid-air emergency as it was headed to the Birmingham Airport.
No one was hurt when the plane was struck by lightening and generally people on board aren’t even aware when it takes place, but in this case, it did require an emergency landing.
A spokesperson for Air France released a statement about the incident on Friday.
“I can confirm that AF1064 was hit by lightning during flight from Paris with an emergency being declared as a precaution. The aircraft has since landed safely at Birmingham Airport with no emergency response needed and with no injuries to passengers or crew. All passengers have since disembarked the aircraft safely from the airport stand as usual.”
