On Sunday $434,000 worth of cocaine was found in the nose of an airplane that had just traveled from Columbia to the United States.
Upon arrival in Miami, the plane was flagged for maintenance and sent to the American Airlines maintenance facility at the Tulsa International Airport. The maintenance crew were surprised to see “a clump of insulation or a brick-like object” and called the Tulsa County Sheriff to come check it out.
The brick-like objects were in back seven different bricks of cocaine. The combined weight of 31 pounds was estimated to be worth about $434,000 in street sale value.
The case was turned over to the United States Drug Enforcement Administration in Miami.
