It’s tough out there for the single guy. A new millennium of expectations have made finding the right woman more difficult than ever before. However, there’s a chance for you yet, and that hope lies in geography. If you look at the numbers, there are several American cities that are home to more gorgeous single women than you can shake a stick at. Of course, geography alone won’t get you laid; you have to take into account your finances, the transportation, and the number of things to do. Thankfully, the folks at Nerdwallet have done the work for us. Here are what they deem to be the top 15 American cities for single men.
1. Baltimore, Maryland
Forget what you learned on The Wire, Baltimore is the place to be for singles in America. A thriving cultural scene mixes with great public transportation to create an environment that nurtures every kind of love. Even better, this Northeast city is among the most cost effective options on this list. The combination of all those factors makes for one of the most accommodating cities for singles looking to connect.

2. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
There’s more than just brotherly love going on in Philly. Let’s start here: there are almost 25 percent more single women in Philadelphia than there are single men. Not only that, but a cool $30 grand in annual income will get you set up and anverage date costs a mere $71. The public transit is also second to none, so you won’t have to worry about getting from date to date with ease.

3. Washington, DC
Washington tends towards the expensive end of things for single men. You’ll need to bring home the bank to make a splash in D.C. but the huge cultural scene covers pretty much any kind of diversion you’re into. In addition, there are few places more romantic than the National Mall on a Spring Day.

4. New York, New York
Obviously New York is going to rank on our list. It’s the capital of the world (if you’re an American), so it’s only natural the city would be home to its fair share of romance. There are way more single women than single men in the Big Apple. In fact, there are 38 percent more young female college grads there than male in Manhattan, so guys have plenty to choose from. Though a date will run you north of a hundred bucks, the myriad diversity in the city offers ample opportunity for new sparks and adventures.

5. Boston, Massachusetts
In Beantown, the ratio of single guys to single gals is 93 to 100, so odds are in their favor. Per capita, Boston is actually home to more cultural and entertainment options than New York. A world renowned bar scene and one of the best sports markets in the country are just the starting points for this historic, walkable city. Not only is it fun, but you can actually afford to live there, which makes it unique among Northeast offerings.

6. Nashville, Tennessee
Any Southerner will tell you that the area below the Mason-Dixon Line is home to the country’s most gorgeous women, and nowhere is that truer than Nashville, Tennessee. On top of that, Nashville boasts 122 beauties for every 100 single men and — provided you like music — there’s more than enough culture to keep you satisfied.

7. Detroit, Michigan
Okay, let’s forget briefly that Detroit is now a smoking ruin fighting its way back from the brink of oblivion. And while the city has made great strides, there’s still a lot of ground to make up. On the bright side, a date will run you a list low of $60, and if you make $25 grand you’re doing extremely well. On top of that, the Motor City is overflowing with available women, so you should have plenty of options.

8. Fort Worth, Texas
While single women might want to head to Austin, single men should get moving to Fort Worth, where a bounty of beautiful women await. The city may not offer quite as much culture as our other entries here, but it’s definitely a good place for the thrifty dater who’s looking for love without destroying his wallet.

9. Oakland, California
Oakland is actually a solid place to be single, whether you’re a man or a woman. An average date is a reasonable $76 and there’s more than enough to do with three entertainment venues or restaurants for every 1000 people. The public transit is also solid, and the city itself is right next to all the pleasures of San Francisco, so if want a change of scenery, you’re only a short train ride away.

10. Cleveland, Ohio
Oh yes, Cleveland does rock, whether you want to admit it or not. Not only is the city home to just about every kind of attraction you could hope for, the women outnumber the men by more than 15 percent. On top of all that, the place is very affordable. An average date costs around $60 and you’ll only need to net about $23 grand a year to be comfortable.

11. Omaha, Nebraska
Assuming you’re not looking for a good public transit system, Omaha is perfect for a single man. There are more women than men by a long shot, and the place is cheap as it comes in America. A date only costs $50 (which is jaw-dropping), and there’s lots to see and do.

12. Milwaukee, Wisconsin
The beautiful Arctic climate of Milwaukee, Wisconsin is perfect for budding romances. Not only is the city’s bar scene a hot spot for honeys all year through, but the surrounding colleges make for plenty of new faces year after year. Sure, it might be a bit more expensive than some of the previous options, but the cost of living is all around lower, so you should be able to treat her right.

13. Charlotte, North Carolina
Not only is Charlotte a simply gorgeous town with a neat history, it’s also a jumping city year-in and year-out because of the thriving university. There are more single, educated, employed young women than men here, so you’re odds are pretty good for catching someone’s eye. It might cost a little bit more to live in Charlotte — the average annual income is just shy of $30 grand — but the tangible benefits of life in the Southern city far outweigh the costs.

14. Memphis, Tennessee
If you’re a fan of great music, good booze, and better food, then the fact that Memphis has technically fewer entertainment options than any other city on the list shouldn’t matter. In Memphis it’s about quality, not quantity … at least as far as entertainment goes. In terms of everything else, there are plenty of single women and the whole city is extremely affordable.

15. Portland, Oregon
The ratio of single men to single women is much closer in Portland than in a lot of other cities, but men still have a strong advantage. In addition, the city is home to a one-of-a-kind culture that’s unique among the world (also, legal weed!). Not only that, but it’s reasonably cheap to live there and there’s lots and lots to do, especially for those who like the romance of the great outdoors.
