Qantas has launched the first direct flight between London and Australia, and tickets are on sale now. The flight time will be 17 hours and ticket prices start at $2,270 for economy class.
The airline’s CEO Alan Joyce spoke out about the new addition.
“This route makes Western Australia a new tourism gateway for Australia. We know from our research that there’s a lot of appetite to explore the west, not just from British and European visitors but also from Aussies on their way to London. A lot of business travellers, particularly in the resources sector, will stop off in Perth on their way to the U.K.”
The U.S. already has a number of direct flights to Australia, from cities such as San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Dallas.
